However, this level of music performance requires a source that can support the intended Hi-Res spec. The HDS-990 Hi-Res Digital Media Player achieves the highest quality playback of 192kHz/24bit via direct USB cable connection, bringing out the potential of every song by reproducing music with intricate detail and incredible realism.

The HDS-990 has multiple digital source inputs that can play a wide range of digital music file formats from MP3 to Hi-Res for flexible playback options. Either connect a smartphone or mass storage device via a wired USB connection or USB input or connect wirelessly via Bluetooth® and LDAC connection. Hi-Res music can be accessed on popular Hi-Res streaming services like Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music HD, and more or purchased and downloaded from platforms like HDtracks.

The HDS-990 features a commander unit with six chiclets that access various sound and music controls and a high-definition display that features song information. The unit can be conveniently mounted to the dash and used as a standalone music source or integrated with the factory or aftermarket head unit via the RCA or 4-Chanel High-Level Inputs to easily switch between digital music sources.

When paired with the Hi-Res processing power of the HDP-D90 Digital Sound Processor Amplifier (DSP), you receive an infallible listening experience and the ability to build and tune your ideal sound system.

The HDS-990 includes a separate black box that can be installed behind the counsel, under the seat, or in another hidden area for flexible installation options. The black box features a wide range of feature suites for inputs and outputs that allow for convenient integration into any type of factory or aftermarket sound system.

The Alpine Status System is sold separately and can be used to build a custom sound system. Three sets of true 4V preamp outputs are included to add additional amplifiers if more power is needed. For best results, install the complete Alpine Status system together as a full system to achieve the highest in-class audio performance only second to the Ultra High-Resolution AlpineF#1System.
